Ingredients
Scale
- 1–2 tablespoons Dried Yerba Mate Leaves
- 8–10 ounces Hot Water (160-180°F / 70-80°C)
- 1 tablespoon Honey (Optional)
- ½ tablespoon Fresh Lemon Juice (Optional)
- 3–4 leaves Fresh Mint Leaves (Optional)
- 1 small piece Cinnamon Stick (Optional)
Instructions
- Heat filtered water to 160-180°F (70-80°C) to prevent over-extraction.
- Measure 1-2 tablespoons of dried yerba mate leaves into a ceramic or glass cup.
- Pour the hot water slowly over the leaves and allow to steep for 5-7 minutes without disturbing.
- Strain the leaves carefully through a fine-mesh sieve into your serving cup.
- Add optional honey, lemon juice, mint, or a cinnamon stick to taste, stir gently, and serve.
Notes
Use water between 160-180°F to prevent bitter, astringent flavors. You can refresh your yerba mate recipe by re-steeping the same leaves with fresh hot water after consuming the first infusion.
