Ingredients
Scale
- 1-inch piece fresh ginger root, thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon dried peppermint leaves
- 1 teaspoon fennel seeds, lightly crushed
- 1 tablespoon dried chamomile flowers
- 4 cups filtered water
- 1 to 2 teaspoons honey per serving (optional)
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice per serving (optional)
Instructions
- Slice fresh ginger root thin and crush fennel seeds with a mortar and pestle to release essential oils.
- Combine sliced ginger, crushed fennel seeds, peppermint leaves, and chamomile flowers in a teapot or heat-safe glass pitcher.
- Bring 4 cups of filtered water to a rolling boil and immediately pour over the herb mixture.
- Allow the mixture to steep undisturbed for 8 to 10 minutes for proper extraction.
- Strain the brewed tea into individual mugs, stir in optional honey and fresh lemon juice, and cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Slice ginger thin and uniform for even extraction. Always crush fennel seeds immediately before brewing to maximize essential oil release. Maintain water temperature between 200 and 212 degrees Fahrenheit and do not over-steep beyond ten minutes to avoid bitterness.
