Rose tteokbokki recipe is a creamy Korean-inspired dish featuring chewy rice cakes coated in a sweet and savory strawberry cream sauce with melted mozzarella cheese and fresh garnishes.

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups rice cakes (tteok)
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries
  • 3/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup vegetable or chicken broth
  • 2 tablespoons condensed milk
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon white pepper
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup fresh sliced strawberries
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 1/4 cup roasted peanuts, chopped
  • 2 green onions, chopped

Instructions

  1. Blend the fresh strawberries with heavy cream and condensed milk until smooth.
  2. Strain the strawberry mixture through a fine mesh sieve to remove seeds.
  3. Bring the broth to a boil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Add the rice cakes to the boiling broth and cook for 8-10 minutes until softened.
  5. Reduce the heat to medium once the rice cakes become tender.
  6. Pour the prepared strawberry sauce into the skillet with the rice cakes.
  7. Add the butter gradually and stir until fully melted into the sauce.
  8. Simmer the rose tteokbokki recipe for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  9. Season with salt and white pepper to taste.
  10. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese over the top and allow it to melt slightly.
  11. Transfer the rose tteokbokki recipe to serving bowls.
  12. Garnish with fresh sliced strawberries, sesame seeds, chopped peanuts, and green onions before serving.

Notes

Use full-fat heavy cream for the richest sauce texture and avoid overcooking the rice cakes to keep them chewy and tender. Always add the mozzarella cheese near the end of cooking for the best creamy consistency.
