Ingredients
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
- 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons packed brown sugar
- 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1/4 cup room temperature water
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/8 teaspoon baking powder
- Pinch of salt
- 1/4 cup chocolate chips
Instructions
- Measure the all-purpose flour into a microwave-safe mug.
- Add cocoa powder to the flour.
- Stir in granulated sugar and packed brown sugar.
- Whisk in baking powder and a pinch of salt.
- Mix the dry ingredients thoroughly with a fork until no cocoa lumps remain.
- Pour vegetable oil into the mug with the dry ingredients.
- Add room temperature water.
- Add vanilla extract.
- Stir vigorously with a fork until a smooth batter forms.
- Fold in the chocolate chips using a gentle stirring motion.
- Microwave the mug on high power for 90 seconds.
- Check the brownie by inserting a toothpick into the center.
- Remove the mug if the toothpick comes out with slightly wet batter clinging to it.
- If the brownie is too wet, microwave in 15-second intervals until the center barely sets.
- Let the brownie cool in the mug for 2 minutes before eating.
- Serve warm directly from the mug or invert onto a small plate if desired.
Notes
Use a ceramic or glass mug for even cooking. Do not overcook, as this no butter single serve chocolate chip recipe becomes dry quickly in the microwave. Let it rest for 2 minutes so the center sets into a fudgy brownie texture.
